Commissioner, District 4
Dennis Hisey, Board Chair

The Hisey family moved to El Paso County in 1983 and now includes his wife Kathy, 5 children and 9 grandchildren.  His background includes over 20 years in the transportation industry, with experience in all aspects from driving to General Manager to owner of a moving and storage company.  Most recently prior to public service, Dennis was the owner of a home repair and remodel business.

In order to gain a better understanding of government processes and law enforcement issues, Dennis has volunteered on citizen committees and completed programs designed to foster community awareness including the El Paso County Sheriff’s Citizen Academy in 2000.  Additionally, Dennis served on the County Planning Commission for four years, gaining an understanding of land use issues.  He completed the 2005 FEMA sponsored Integrated Emergency Management course at their training center in Maryland, giving him valuable insight into disaster management.

Participating for many years in the political process has allowed Dennis to form working relationships with citizens from around the county gaining insight into the concerns throughout the county. Dennis was elected to the office of County Commissioner for District 4 in 2004, taking office in January 2005, serving as Vice Chair in 2006 and Chairman in 2007.  He serves as liaison to the Sheriff’s Office, Public Trustee, The Clerk and Recorder, Local Emergency Planning Committee, and Widefield Water & Sanitation District Citizens’ Advisory Council, as well as serving on more than a dozen boards and committees, including the Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority and Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments.

Dennis was awarded “2005 Freshman Commissioner of the year” at the annual Colorado Counties, Inc. convention, being selected from over 70 freshman commissioners from the 64 counties in Colorado.

Besides duties directly related to the County Commission, Dennis continues to be an active member of his church and several clubs and organizations, including being a Charter Member of the Fountain / Ft. Carson Lions Club.

“It is an honor and privilege to serve my friends, neighbors and all the citizens of El Paso County. I will listen to every concern and do my best to represent my constituents.”
